Yesterday We Asked If the Pile Would Shrink, It Grew

Correction, 23 August 2026

The stock figures in this story were wrong, and the fault was ours. Our scraper only updates what it can see on a brand's collection pages. When an item sells out and drops off those pages, the row is never revisited and stays flagged in stock. By 22 August that had reached 100,103 rows, 46,164 of which had not been seen in over ninety days.

  • Discounted items: 61,238 → 33,515
  • Average genuine discount: 41% → 38%
  • At 50% off or deeper: 22,856 → 9,465

This story's central claim inverts. We reported the pile growing from 22,650 to 22,856 and read it as the market refusing to absorb the stock. That growth was not the market, it was zombie rows accumulating in our own system. The pile was in fact shrinking; we could not see it.

Anything built on price history, the frozen-price days, the Limelight increases, the new-arrival counts, rests on real recorded data and still stands. How we work.

22 August 2026

Yesterday we reported 22,650 items at 50% off or deeper, of which 27 sold in a full day, and left an open question: would that pile finally start draining?

The answer is in. Today it stands at 22,856, 206 items larger.

Part of that pile: Edenrobe printed cambric 3-piece, Rs 4,000, was Rs 11,990 (-67%)
Part of that pile: Edenrobe printed cambric 3-piece, Rs 4,000, was Rs 11,990 (-67%)
  • Total discounted items: 61,238
  • Average genuine discount: 41%, a seventh day
  • At 50% off or deeper: 22,856 (22,650 yesterday)

Why did it grow? Because items are entering the deep-discount band faster than the existing ones are selling out of it. The brands are still pushing stock into the pile; the shopper is not pulling it out at anything like the same rate.

What that means for you: there is no reason to hurry. While the pile is growing, the pressure sits on the brand, not on you. The day to move quickly is the day this number starts falling fast, and that day has not arrived.
