Met Gala 2027 Bets on Fashion's Most Controversial Name
The Met's Spring 2027 exhibition is a full John Galliano retrospective — the designer Dior fired in 2011. Anna Wintour: 'his career isn't defined by a moment.'

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has picked the most argued-about name in fashion for its Spring 2027 Costume Institute exhibition: "John Galliano: Horizons", running May 9, 2027 to January 9, 2028 — the first full retrospective of the designer's career, via Dawn Images.
The controversy is the story: Galliano was fired by Christian Dior in 2011 after racist and antisemitic abuse incidents. The Met says the show will face that history head-on — CEO Max Hollein promises attention to "the historical, cultural and ethical circumstances", and Anna Wintour's verdict is already a headline: "his career isn't defined by a moment" — though, she concedes, "something that he will live with."
Why it lands in Pakistan: Galliano's maximalist embroidery-and-drama language is the visual dialect Pakistani couture speaks fluently — and the redemption-vs-accountability debate his show reopens is one our own industry knows well. Expect every May 2027 red-carpet reference to be argued about twice as hard.
