You find the suit. You love the suit. You click through, and the only sizes left are XS and S.
If this happens to you constantly and almost never to your smaller friend, that is not bad luck. We measured every size of every women's garment in stock across 22 of the 35 brands we track, and the pattern is consistent enough to plan around.
The bigger the size, the likelier it is gone

Read that table twice, because there are two separate problems in it.
First: fewer get made. There are 41,160 garments cut in S and 12,165 in XXL. A woman shopping in XXL is choosing from roughly a third of what her friend in S sees, before either of them clicks anything.
Second: they go faster. Of the XXL that does exist, 91% is already sold out, against 60% of XS. The smaller pool empties quicker too.
Neither problem alone would matter much. Together they mean that by the time most people hear about a collection, XXL is effectively finished.
Which brands actually cut large sizes

Edenrobe's share is twice Maria.B's. If you wear XL or XXL, starting at the top of that list rather than the bottom doubles what you are shown.
The part that surprised us
Stocking large sizes and having them available turn out to be different things.
J. Junaid Jamshed cuts 33% of its range in XL and XXL, one of the best ratios in the country. But 96% of its XXL is sold out. Edenrobe: 34% cut, 93% gone. Bonanza Satrangi: every single XXL, sold out.
Meanwhile Image and Lama Retail sit at 65% and 61% sold out, which means roughly a third of their large sizes are still buyable right now.
The brands that stock the most are not the brands where you can still buy. Demand at the well-stocked brands simply outruns supply, which is its own evidence of how underserved this part of the market is.
What actually works
- Buy early in a collection, not late. This is the single biggest lever. The advice to wait for the sale is written for people whose size is still there in week six. In XXL it usually is not.
- Start at Image and Lama Retail if you need it today, and at Edenrobe or J. if you are browsing a fresh drop.
- Set an alert instead of re-checking. Restocks in large sizes are small and go quickly. Being told beats remembering to look.
- Check the brand's own size chart every time. Pakistani brands do not share a standard, so an L at one label is an M at another. Measurements in inches are worth more than the letter on the tag.
- Consider unstitched. Fabric has no size. If ready-to-wear keeps failing you, buying cloth and having it stitched removes the constraint entirely, and it is often cheaper.
One thing worth saying plainly
None of this is a shopper's fault, and none of it is solved by shopping harder. Brands cut sizes to a forecast, the forecast is built from last season's sales, and last season's sales were limited by what was cut. XXL sells out at 91% and the lesson taken is rarely "make more".
