How Real Is Sapphire's Sale? We Checked It Against Our Own Price History

The sale is genuine β€” 96% of items sit at their lowest recorded price. But the real saving is 22%, not the 36% claimed, and nothing has been cut since 16 August.

How Real Is Sapphire's Sale? We Checked It Against Our Own Price History

5 September 2026

Sapphire has a sale running. We did not look at what the brand says β€” we looked at what it has actually charged for those items over the past 90 days.

Unstitched 3 PC U3FELXS26V28 β€” now Rs 10,194. The brand's
Unstitched 3 PC U3FELXS26V28 β€” now Rs 10,194. The brand's "was" is Rs 16,990 (40% off). The highest price in our record is Rs 13,592 β€” a real saving of 25%.

The answer: the sale is real β€” but smaller than advertised

1,361 in-stock items claim a discount, averaging 36% off.

We tested 704 of them against our own recorded history:

  • 674 (96%) genuinely sit at or below the lowest price we have ever recorded for them
  • 30 remain above a price we have seen before
  • The verified average saving is 22%

So the discount is not fake. Things really have got cheaper. But the saving is 22%, not 36%.

Where does the gap come from? The struck-through figure β€” Rs 16,990 and the like β€” is a price Sapphire has never actually charged in the 90 days we have been watching. It is a list price, not a past price. That is why we measure against our record instead of against it.

The sale is not new β€” it is three weeks old

When Sapphire's prices last actually fell, by our record:

Week ofItemsAverage cut
16 August40439%
9 August3626%
2 August21632%
26 July48925%
19 July1,28128%

Nothing has been cut since 16 August. The banner running today sits on prices that were set between two and seven weeks ago.

Against the rest of the market

Brand% of range on saleAverage discount
Beechtree93%43%
Gul Ahmed87%42%
Nishat Linen81%43%
Sapphire73%36%
Khaadi28%40%

Sapphire's sale is milder than the market on both measures β€” neither the widest nor the deepest.

Two things worth singling out

The Rs 500 line is genuinely cheap. 948 bottom-wear and 641 ready-to-wear items at Rs 500 against a Rs 1,500 anchor β€” trousers, shalwars, dupattas. It is the most real saving on offer, and most of it has already sold.

52 items we cannot verify. All sit at exactly 70% off with a "was" figure 3.3 times the current price β€” a Rs 897 dupatta marked against Rs 2,990. Our rule is that an anchor more than three times the current price does not enter our averages, because such a "original price" often exists only on the sticker. We are not saying it is false; we are saying we cannot verify it.

And one thing we did not publish

The first pass showed 93 items now more expensive than before β€” including an unstitched suit apparently up from Rs 4,790 to Rs 10,194.

Its full history read: Rs 13,592 on 24 July Β· Rs 4,790 on 21 August Β· Rs 10,194 on 1 September.

Then we checked how many other products recorded that same Rs 4,790 on that same day. 388 of them. That was the window when our own scraper was misreading Sapphire's category pages and stamping one listing price across many products. The Rs 4,790 never existed.

With that window (20–23 August) excluded, "93 more expensive" falls to 30 β€” and every figure in this story is calculated without it.

We are writing this down because publishing that number would have accused a brand of raising prices on the strength of our own bug. An outlet that audits other people's pricing has to audit its own data first.

In short

  • The sale is real β€” 96% of items are genuinely at their lowest recorded price
  • The saving is 22%, not 36% β€” the difference is a "was" price never actually charged
  • It is not new β€” the last cuts were on 16 August
  • It is milder than the market β€” Gul Ahmed, Nishat and Beechtree are all offering more right now

Check the price-history graph on any product page before buying. It is the only thing that shows where today's price really stands.
