The Sale Is Shrinking — and Getting Deeper: 7,053 Fewer Items, 1% Bigger Discounts
7,053 items left the sale in two days — 67,910 down to 60,857. But here's the odd part: the average discount went up. Shallow cuts end first; the deep ones survive.
17 August 2026
Clearance Watch, Day 3. Today the numbers finally turned — but not the way most people expected.
Two days ago (15 Aug) the market held 67,910 discounted items. This morning it holds 60,857 — 7,053 items have left the sale. The Azadi banners really are coming down.
Here's the twist: the average genuine discount rose, from 40% to 41%. The sale is getting smaller and deeper. The reason is simple — brands pull their shallow cuts (10-20%) first, because those existed for the banner. Whatever genuinely didn't sell keeps its discount, and often gets a bigger one.
How much is still at 50% or more? Over 22,400 in-stock items, across these brands alone:
- Gul Ahmed — 6,182 items @ 50%+
- Stylo — 5,755 · Outfitters — 2,731
- Nishat Linen — 2,514 · Limelight — 1,215
What it means for shoppers: fewer items, better ones. Anything still standing at 50%+ today is real clearance, not banner decoration. And the quiet 17-20 August window we flagged last week starts today.
