Clearance Watch Day 4: The Number Rose — But the Sale Didn't, Our Data Did

Discounted items are up from 60,857 to 61,539. It would be easy to write that the sale grew. The truth is most of the change is our own scrapers catching up — and that needs saying.

Clearance Watch Day 4: The Number Rose — But the Sale Didn't, Our Data Did

18 August 2026

Clearance Watch, Day 4. Today's number looks like good news: discounted items up from 60,857 to 61,539. The sale is growing again.

Except it isn't, and we are not going to tell you something that isn't true.

Here is what actually happened: Khaadi and Sapphire had gone six days without a data refresh — their scrapers were not running. They ran overnight, and both brands' real numbers came back. Those two alone added ~445 discounted items that had been on sale the whole time; they were simply missing from our count.

So of the 682 rise, roughly two-thirds is our data recovering, not the market moving. The genuine change is about 237 items, which is noise.

What genuinely did not change: the average discount is holding at 41% for a third day. And more than 20,900 items now sit at 50% off or deeper.

  • Gul Ahmed — 6,182 items @ 50%+
  • Stylo — 5,115 · Outfitters — 2,731
  • Nishat Linen — 2,521 · Khaadi — 1,394 (fresh data)
  • Limelight — 1,215 · Sapphire — 1,086 (fresh data)

We are writing this because the entire value of a price tracker rests on it telling the truth about its own numbers too. A site that hides a gap in its counting has not earned trust in the rest of its counting.
