Yesterday We Asked If the Pile Would Shrink — It Grew
22,650 to 22,856. The half-price stock did not start draining; it got bigger by 206 items in a day.
22 August 2026
Yesterday we reported 22,650 items at 50% off or deeper, of which 27 sold in a full day, and left an open question: would that pile finally start draining?
The answer is in. Today it stands at 22,856 — 206 items larger.
- Total discounted items: 61,238
- Average genuine discount: 41% — a seventh day
- At 50% off or deeper: 22,856 (22,650 yesterday)
Why did it grow? Because items are entering the deep-discount band faster than the existing ones are selling out of it. The brands are still pushing stock into the pile; the shopper is not pulling it out at anything like the same rate.
What that means for you: there is no reason to hurry. While the pile is growing, the pressure sits on the brand, not on you. The day to move quickly is the day this number starts falling fast — and that day has not arrived.
