Prices Are Moving Again, and the Direction Is Down
After a week of stillness, movement returned: 201 prices fell and only 23 rose. Getting to that number meant throwing out our own first answer.
27 August 2026
The post-Azadi freeze has broken. Over the past five days:
- 201 prices fell
- 23 rose
- 12,426 did not move
Of everything that moved, falls outnumbered rises roughly eight to one.
We threw out our own first answer to get here, and the reason is worth stating. The initial count said the opposite — 1,354 rises against 604 falls, a market turning upward. 1,326 of those rises were Sana Safinaz alone.
We re-scraped Sana Safinaz and Bonanza Satrangi on 23 August after discovering their prices had been reaching us in a foreign market's currency. A genuine sale also ended at Sana Safinaz inside that same window. The two effects cannot be separated within it, so both brands are excluded from every price-direction figure above. Without them, the direction reverses.
Where the market stands:
- In stock: 79,008 items
- Discounted: 29,942
- Average genuine discount: 38%
- At 50% off or deeper: 8,165
Every one of those counts only items confirmed on the brand's own site within the last 7 days — a change we made on 23 August, after finding our earlier figures were counting items the brands had already delisted.

Data: TrendCompare 22-brand hourly tracker. Every figure counts only products confirmed on the brand's own site within the last 7 days. Discounts exclude inflated "was" prices (anchor ≤ 3× current). Full methodology.
