Sapphire Went Upmarket Overnight: New Stock Averages Rs. 8,361, Up From Rs. 2,723

Yesterday we reported Sapphire adding 2,764 items in a week at an average of Rs. 2,723. In the past 24 hours 492 more arrived — and they are a different kind of stock. The average price is Rs. 8,361, three times the previous seven days.
What arrived
- Ready-to-wear — 326 pieces, averaging Rs. 8,489, up to Rs. 29,990
- Unstitched — 143 pieces, averaging Rs. 8,722, up to Rs. 17,990
- Bottom-wear 14 · Western 9
This is not lawn. This is the door to wedding season.
The dearer it is, the less likely you can buy it
The most interesting thing in the drop is the relationship between price and stock:
| Price | New items | In stock |
|---|---|---|
| Under Rs. 3,000 | 69 | 36% |
| 3,000 – 6,000 | 170 | 45% |
| 6,000 – 10,000 | 120 | 26% |
| 10,000 – 20,000 | 102 | 6% |
| Above 20,000 | 31 | 0% |
Below Rs. 3,000, 36% of pieces are available. Above Rs. 10,000, 6%. And of the 31 pieces above Rs. 20,000, none.
Two explanations fit: expensive pieces are made in small runs and go first, or they reach the listing before they reach the warehouse. We cannot yet say which — we hold one day of stock history on these items.
What we can say: if you want something from Sapphire's new formal stock, the Rs. 3,000–6,000 band is the only place where roughly half of it is still there.
