The detail worth noticing: the average discount actually slipped from 38% to 37% while the deep-cut count rose 47%. That contradiction says new items are being added to the sale at shallower discounts at the same time as older stock is being cut harder.

For shoppers: August's freeze has broken. If you waited last month, this is the week to look, particularly at Gul Ahmed and Outfitters winter jackets, where cuts reach 60%.
