The sequence isn't accidental. Clearance frees shelf space and new stock takes it immediately. That is what makes the last week of August the one point in the year when two seasons share a rack — the cheap summer leaving, the full-price new arrivals coming in.

Two clear calls for shoppers: buy from the clearance now, because the 50%+ stock will be gone within 10-12 days. And if something in the new arrivals caught your eye, waiting for a discount before December is pointless — new stock does not go on sale in its first season.
