XXL Is 88% Sold Out — and Brands Make Less of It Than Anything Else

We measured stock by size across all 22 brands. It comes out like this:

  • XX-Large88% sold out
  • X-Large — 58% sold out
  • Large — 46%
  • Medium — 38%
  • Small32%
  • X-Small — 32%

Now the other number — how much was made in the first place:

  • Small — 5,748 variants
  • Medium — 5,763 · Large — 5,744
  • X-Large — 2,869 (less than half)
  • XX-Large — 123

Small is produced roughly 47 times more than XXL — and XXL sells out nearly three times as fast.

This is a supply problem, not a demand one. When a size clears that quickly it does not mean it is popular; it means not enough of it was made. A woman who wears XXL has 123 options in the entire market, and 108 of them are already gone.

One honest caveat: the XX-Large sample is small — 123 variants — so that 88% is a strong signal rather than a precise figure. X-Large at 58% across 2,869 variants is the sturdier number, and it tells the same story.

For shoppers: if you wear XL or above, buy early in the season. Your size rarely survives to the sale — it goes before the discount arrives. Much of what you see marked down is what was left in the smaller sizes.

Data: TrendCompare 22-brand hourly tracker. Every figure counts only products confirmed on the brand's own site within the last 7 days. Discounts exclude inflated "was" prices (anchor ≤ 3× current). Full methodology.
