Break the 22,650 half-price items down by price and the picture is stark, almost the entire clearance benefit is going to budget shoppers, not to anyone buying expensive clothes.

The stock figures in this story were wrong, and the fault was ours. Our scraper only updates what it can see on a brand's collection pages. When an item sells out and drops off those pages, the row is never revisited and stays flagged in stock. By 22 August that had reached 100,103 rows, 46,164 of which had not been seen in over ninety days.

- Average genuine discount: 41% → 38%
- At 50% off or deeper: 22,856 → 9,465
The numbers are wrong; the conclusion may hold. "10,791 items under Rs 2,000, only 232 above Rs 10,000", every one of those counts was inflated. But the story's actual point was that deep clearance is a budget event rather than a luxury one, and that proportion still appears to hold.

Breaking the 22,650 items at 50%+ down by price band makes the picture unambiguous:
- Under Rs 2,000, 10,791 items (48% of the entire deep-discount pool)
- Rs 2,000, 5,000, 9,611 items
- Rs 5,000, 10,000, 2,016 items
- Above Rs 10,000, just 232 items (under 1%)
What that means directly: if your budget is Rs 2,000 to 5,000, this is your moment, roughly 90% of what's left sits in that range. But if you're hunting for a heavily discounted formal or wedding outfit, it is simply not in this clearance. There are 232 such items across all 22 brands combined.
And the reason is worth understanding. Brands don't put expensive formal and bridal stock into deep clearance, it doesn't date with the season, and a 60% cut on it damages the brand's own price position. Cheap everyday stock dies with the season, so that's what gets cleared.
